- Jack_SprattExplorerTook the camper for a 20 mile ride on county roads today.
Moderate to poor road conditions occasionally going sixty,
There was no noticeable difference in the stiffer setting.
But as said earlier, the camper already road well.
It's a comfortable setup, so will leave it as is. - billtexExplorer IIHi Jack, great to hear from you!
Happy 4th.
Thanx for feedback on SS's, let me know the rest when you test drive.
It had been 25 yrs since I was up in the Baxter SP area....forgot how remote and beautiful it is. Now I will be ste to go back again sooner.
Glad to hear the TC is working out for you.
Have you been out much?
Safe travels,
Bill - Jack_SprattExplorerHi Bill
Originally I had the forward hangar in the soft position and
the back one in the middle. My AF 811 rode fine, but curiosity
caused me to move the forward hangar to the middle hole.
Unfortunately I have not put the camper on since, but the
truck rides noticeably stiffer unloaded. Hope to be able to give
you a better report soon.
Hoping to get up to Gulf Hagas soon. This weekend the weather
would have been perfect.
Thanks again for your help in choosing the AF
Jack - billtexExplorer IIThanks Kerry...I may move mine out one hole. In the middle hole now and not sure I need that much pre-load.
John, love the SS. I am running airbags also...put them on with our first TC which was lighter. The airbags were fine with the lighter TC. With the heavier Eagle Cap we need some additional spring support. For a 3/4 ton truck with no upper over loads they are definitely the way to go. The airbags are only leveling side2side now...I keep them at a minimum. If they ever fail, I would just remove them now.
If I were starting over I would go with just SS's. They are very robust.
HH is interesting, let us know how that works out. Anytime I camp within walking distance of wine is OK w/me!
We had a busy June; climbed Mt Moosilauke, Mt Waternomee, went rafting, and then went up to Mt. Katahdin and Gulf Hagas area. Lot's of miles, lots of smiles!
The EC has been awesome.
Hope you Guys are happy with your EC.
Safe travels, Bill - SugarHillCTDExplorerHey Bill,
How do you like your Supersprings?
I just switched back to RideRite airbags- the Timbrens I had on there give us kind of a weird rebound as they "load up" then release when we go over an up or down bump.
The airbags eliminate that but I wonder if adding some SS would be a better solution.
Headed to PEI and southern N.S. in a couple weeks. Trying "Harvest Hosts" for the first time- Cathy has us all reserved.
Thanks!

For those that have done it already; has moving up/down one hole made a difference?
How so?
Did you go up or down?
Thanks, Bill
I did. I moved from the inner most holes to the middle hole. When unloaded I have just enough tension on the springs to keep the hard nylon cushion axle pad in place. There is hardly any spring tension when unloaded so they dont effect my ride much at all.
