Surprising discovery: 5-speed vs 6-speed automatic

My GM truck with the 6-speed has 2 overdrive gears which is an improvement over the preceeding 4-speed box. The 6th speed is usable when not towing or no heavy load in the truck, same I would expect when the Sequoia has only a driver onboard. When you are not at freeway speeds you effectively have a 4-speed transmission and a very heavy SUV.

If fuel economy is at all important the Suburu Forester AWD gets double the miles per gallon.
