Who makes the best tent trailer, in your opinion and from your experience?
Since they all kinda look alike, I'm thinking construction, materials, warranty, etc.
I'm going to buy one for my kids and would love feedback from owners as to your likes and dislikes, issues.
Thanks,
Steve

  • No help here. I always thought Coleman was GREAT, and that they'd always be around.....

    NOT SO MUCH.

I'd have to agree on the Palamino, at least the older ones. Haven't looked at the new stuff.

At this point if I were to go back to a trailer, it'd be a 'folder', hard sides, hard top. Don't need as much room these days. So something like the ALiner would be my choice.
  • I bought a Palomino 2010 4124 "Y" Series used last year and have been very happy with it. It had the look of a new one. I have had almost no problems with it since then, but have added an Air Conditioner, and Brakes since then. I'm towing with a GMC Terrain 6 cyl and it seems more than adequate. All the manuals for this series and brand are available on the Internet for any trouble shooting issues that I might have.
  • The way I look at it there are only three companies still building a hard top "canvas" side pop up camper. Forest River RV, Jayco, and Columbia Northwest. Palomino, Rockwood, Flagstaff, Viking, Coachman are all Forest River brands. Jayco and Starcraft are the same company.

Jayco and Forest River pop up campers appear to be constructed from mostly the same parts and the components are from the same suppliers. That leaves the difference in one versus the other to be the warranty, quality of construction. The remaining difference is based on the buyers choice in of size, options and design.

    Am I missing something?
  • I have always liked the Palomino brand.
I used to purchase most of the tent trailer trade ins at the dealerships where I worked. I probably owned at least 20+ over the past 30 years.
The Palominos that I came across were always the ones in the best condition.
I like their roofs covered with aluminum on the outside and on the inside ceiling. No peeling vinyl coated fiberboard such as Starcraft and others.

Just finished restoring a 1986 Hard-Side folding wall Palomino to like new condition.
Looks like the day it left the factory inside and out. This will finally be my keeper.
Looked at the new Palomimo line up at a local dealer and happy to see the quality is still there.
