I contrast the top heavy with the Airstream lower ground clearance, and the Ausie trailers set up for very very serious outback boondocking including fording rivers. Check out the http://www.bushtracker.com suspension.
Our teardrop is low to the ground for wind resistance reasons but I have set it up with air shocks to gain ground clearance when I need it. Air bag suspensions can with enough determination be adapted. My personal feeling, they cheaped out. There is no reason for bad engineering, and it can be fixed.
