I'm going to jack one side of the trailer up tonight, so that all the weight is off both axles and the tires spin.
I'm then going to take the forward spring shackle apart, flip it the correct way and then go back together with it and see what I have then.
I don't see how this change would require longer spring shackles? I agree they do seem to be reaching, but I'm not sure why that is? I'm guessing they look that way because the one shackle is nearly vetical and that's at least partilly causing the other to be more extended than it normally would be.
Going from under-slung to over-slung I wouldn't see how the frame to shackle distance would increase, because my understanding is that moving the axle from above to below the spring is where you get your height increase, but the spring to frame distance would remain the same. Or am I overlooking something?
Edit - I think one reason the shackles seem to be "reaching" is because with the forward shackle in the wrong position, the distance between the two tires is increased so they are "spread apart" more than they should be.
