Switching from 2 way to 3way Fridge

Ok this is either very simple question no one has needed to ask before or I don't know the words to use to find the thread describing it with the search feature.
Regardless, I need an answer so I'm asking here.
I currently have a 2way fridge in our 2005 KZ 2405 Frontier Trailer however, it died on us. My question is; can I buy a 3way fridge to replace it. Then keep and use the current wiring for the 2way if I don't plan on ever running the new fridge in DC mode? As I really don't want to run a 10 gauge wire if I don't plan on ever using it in the DC mode. Thanks
  • Thanks for the quick answers everyone! With any luck it'll be up and running by this weekend.
  • Backside of fridge under cover for power module is a 30A Automotive Blade Type Fuse on circuit board for the DC Heater. Pull it.

There will also be a 3A Auto Blade Type for the DC controls.....leave it and a 5A Glass Fuse for the AC heat element

Also on boiler stack will be 2 heat elements
1 for AC and 1 for DC. You can remove the DC element as you say you aren't going to use/wire it up

Yes you can. One of my past MHs had a switch to enable DC or not.

This fridge has a Mode button on the control panel but, I didn't know if that was all I needed to worry about.

You could run the three way as two. Why spend the extra money on three way?
Make sure you remove the fuse from the circuit board for the 12 volt DC element.
Make and model of three way refer?

Thank you that's what I was hoping for. You would think it would be more but, I actually found the 3way cheaper. Just in case the manual doesn't spell it out where would I find the DC fuse on a Norcold N641.3 Fridge?
  • My 2011 Roadtrek has a Dometic mod 8501 is a three way refrigerator.Call Dometric

  • I'm surprised they still sell them. Had one in my TC in the mid 80s. Never really worked well on 12 volts.
