Transynd for me - purchase at the local Detroit/Allison diesel shop. Drain and fill twice for a full conversion to synthetic.
I did a complete fluid exchange to AMZ/OIL ATF at around 2K on my 2011 RAM Dually HO.
That way you get ALL the old fluid out is very easy even with out a converter drain plug.
Drain the pan, change filters. Pour fluid into a container that has measurements on it. Pour the same amount back into the trans. Now you are full but not done! Remove the feed hose to the trans cooler at the front of the truck. have it where you can have fluid come out into that same container from earlier. You may need to add a hose to the cooler line. Now have someone to start the engine, start the engine and when the fluid starts to sputter from the line shot off the engine. Now add the same amount of fluid back into the trans that you just drained into the container. Repeat until the fluid runs bright red then add the correct amount back. Keep track of the amount drained so you know when the exchange is about complete. If your system takes 18 qts for example you will probably use 20 qts. Re install the trans line. Take it out and get the fluid warm and check level and adjust.
Very simple, done this procedure many times.
