I think everything I've looked at has had the 5.3 engine. I assume the 3.42 would give you more power and less gas mileage. But pulling my old Coleman popup power was never an issue with any vehicle I had. Add 1000 pounds for the Jayco and it makes more difference than I thought it would.
I don't know if there's any advantage to the factory brake controller or not.
