The tow rating of 2009-2014 4WD Suburban can be as low as 5200 pounds with 3.08 axle and without HD towing package. You have to be careful about stating "any newish full size suv". Make sure it has the proper equipment for whichever model you pick.
GM sells 3 full sized SUVs for all of its competitors combined. That's why resale value is also so high. They own that market.
Take a look at this sticker when you open the driver's door as you shop since you want higher trim levels. Some have 1500 pounds, some have 1200 pounds. Note what they have where mine says 2051.
