Taos New Mexico mid March

We have planned a trip during this time. We will be coming from Colorado and staying near two mile from Taos, New Mexico.

Those that know the area;
I here it is windy this time, the article I read had some ominous name like, "notorious winds" late in the afternoon. Can sandstorms happen in this area, or is it not that bad.

Lastly:

Been watching the temps around Taos and it has taken a small turn. A week ago lows were 32 degrees. I figured nothing to worry about, will not hold up a freeze long enough. It is now looking like 29 degrees a few mornings.

Should I stay winterized?
(I am not worried about the warmth)

I suppose conditions dictate how long it takes a short freeze or long freeze to actually cause pipe damage in an RV. Especially since se will be running (we are at full hook up near Taos) a nice ceramic heater, its a 16ft, and our body heat will generate some.

This is a lightweight 16BH, It is not a all season unit at all, I have what looks like some lower grade copper exposed leading to various trains underneath the unit. Not really worried about the plex lines running threw the inside of the trailer.

I do not think it is cold enough (29 and 60 to 69) during the day too worry about it. I think it should be fine to use all hook ups at the RV Park, which by the way is "Taos Valley RV Park"

Hope this made sense, just a little overworked and wanting to get out and enjoy new RV experiences.

  • According to the weather report I saw last night, the high mountains (mainly ski areas) are expected to get up to 18" of snow between now and Saturday. I would not dewinterize but use the campground facilities. It's easy enough to stay warm inside but the pipes under your trailer could easily freeze.
