TC accident CA99 in Bakersfield

Looks like a late model NorthStar Arrow U on a Gen 2 Dodge short bed.
Cab looks pretty crushed... hope the campers will recover.

The red white and blue square post is a rescue strut. It was used to stabilize the TC while the fire fighters used the jaws to pop the doors off the cab and extricate the occupants. I've done it a few times. If you get them out alive they have a good shot at survival. Bakersfield has a good trauma center.

Sounds like a case of missed exit.
Wish them fast recovery.
I drive that stretch every couple of months and even when I keep my sedan at 80 mph+, I get passed by few cars.

It was a 'multi-vehicle crash' so anything could have happened.

I just google California Avenue.
It is just 1000 ft before highway 58 exit that goes towards Las Vegas.
For those who never drove there, it is a ZOO out there as speeding cars from 2-3 lanes try to cut into single lane exit, while merging with semi trucks and managing freeway curve.

Someone posted on Instagram about this. They were there before any rescue people arrived. Said a semi rear ended another semi and the TC was in front of both semis.

I wish a fast recovery to the occupants of the truck.

That camper held up quite well. The truck & tiedowns not so much.

Got that right.... If one has never needed to do the 58 east off of 99 south they do not know how difficult it can be. We have done it at least 30 times... There is only one lane for 58 east! You do not want to do it in the late afternoon...hahahaaaa

According to the article, I think it says that the TC hit the brakes and caused the rear-end collision. The only lesson, I guess, is to plan your exits well in advance and slow down gradually?
