I just missed out on the TC that I was planning on bringing home. They sold it for less than my offer for some reason and I'm a little bummed, but just going to start the search again. Last time I found the model I wanted, I went through CL, ebay, and all the camper dealer web sites one at a time to find something within a few hundred miles. It was a pain! I know rvtrader lists some, but is there a better site to search? I can do it the same way again, but it's a lot of work that I'd rather avoid.FWIW, I'm looking for a 9.5' 1500 series Bigfoot or Northern Lite that's not ancient (2006'ish or newer). Any leads would be great.

Well, I see part of the problem. You are searching for a camper that doesn't come up for sale very often. Very sought after. Plus, there are not many of them out there to begin with compared to their bigger models. You may have to expand your search area and consider traveling quite far to get the one you like. I had to drive 700 miles one way to get mine a couple years ago. I've watched pretty carefully and haven't seen one that compares to mine for sale since. Keep it up, one will pop up but jump on in quick when it does. You mention 9.5 foot, so you're looking for the long box version campers?

I've heard/read that they are rare, but in the last 4 months I've looked at 3 bigfoot 15c9.5fs and one northern lite classic (east-west queen bed with 4" basement). 3 of these were within 20 miles and the 3rd within 150. Perhaps that was the problem though. I knew they were considered rare but lots seem to have shown up recently so I wasn't worried about supply.I found a few more in BC, but they are a long drive and very old. I'll have to be patient I guess.

I have using SearchTempest and RVTrader to get an idea of how much to ask for my Arctic Fox and also to get ideas of asking prices on new Hosts. It does vary by location, so you have consider cost and time if you are willing to travel for a deal. If I cannot get out and back in weekend, it's hard for me justify exclusive travel just for a purchase. If I roll it into visit with friends or family or mini vacation, I am more flexible.

There was a kodiak up here a while back, but it was built differently. I wasn't sure if sn older non-clamshell desin was any better than the Lance/AF/etc with water. My wife us highly allergic to mold so I have been focusing my search on bigfoot and northern lite.

if you don't Need double pane glass you might get a good deal on a used Peak MFG. Kodiak, they were a good camper

I started that rant with a coworker the other day and was shocked when he thought the tax was reasonable. It converts a truck to an rv so I should have to pay rv taxes. Um ??

Why would WA license a slide in camper (complete with no wheels...)? Is it a hover vehicle? A wheelless trailer?

Do you have to license tool boxes, snowmobile decks, slip tanks... a load of lumber?

I was wondrink about that. But isn't it the same problem if the camper is front CA or WY or anywhere that doesn't license them?

Unless you know someone at the WA DMV who has brought a camper down from BC before you are in for a surprise. There is ton of paperwork that needs to happen as campers are not titled in BC. If you can get the paperwork and get it back across the border you will need to file for a lost title, get a state patrol inspection, and wait 3 years to actually get the title.

I was lucky and had a buddy who buys cars at auctions in BC and knows brokers to handle the paperwork mess. Even then there was a lot of back and forth phone calls, and we had to wait at the border coming home because the border guard had no idea what was going on...

Didn't look at the ones in eastern WA though there have been a lot of 2500 series available too. I liked the lighter weight and lower profile on the 1500 series but may go with a 2500 if I can't find the smaller brother.
