My AF has them on both sides.
The dealer taught me to use the "sub wings" to help the loading procedure and it does help a lot. Basically, look over your left shoulder as you back in at the sub wing compared to the bed rail. The gap should form a straight line and then you know you are lined up straight. Works for me.
