Television for RV use.

I am thinking about replacing the six year old Jensen TV that came with our TT.

It is mounted on a rotating shelf so it can be viewed in the bedroom or dinning area.

I am wondering if a regular television will hold up to the bouncing and shaking of a TT.

  • Replaced the old heavy analog TV when OTA went digital (2009)......installed a 32" Vizio and a 19" Vizio in our 5th wheel

This was while we were FT traveling weekly......no issues
  • Two years with a regular household led TV. No issues. Even leave if interested over the winter.
  • I use a 32" LCD TV in my trailer. It is only supported by the mount and attached to a piece of plywood backer on the wall.

All newer screens are all solid state, mostly built with SMD components. There is little that road travel can do to harm them.

IMO, Jensen only builds with one thing in mind--price. That's why their electronics are used in RV's, it is a decision made by the mfg. Otherwise, we would all have Sony's or Samsung screens in our RV's.
  • I know of people using regular household TV in there TT with no issues.

If i need to replace my current television, I will stay with a brand like Jensen who builds equipment to withstand the road.

Make sure the Television you pick is light weight and is reinforce where it connects to the bracket mount. Remember there is a lot of bouncing and shaking when going down the road.
