Jun 30, 2016Sounds like a defect from manufacturing. As stated above tempered glass doesn't really chip. The glass is manufactured with very high internal stresses. The smallest of fractures causes the stress to release instantly which is why the glass shatters into hundreds of rounded pieces. The higher the stress, the smaller the pieces. It's possible that something came into contact with the surface of the glass while the glass was traveling through the oven which left the imperfection. I'd have the dealer swap the window or live with it if it's not that bad.
