What do you mean by "a few miles"? If you are talking about 5 or 10 miles, at a low speed such as 40 or 45 mph, then you might be ok with an off-the-shelf hitch receiver. Reese/DrawTite would be my pick, I'm not a fan of Curt receivers. If you do this, the mounting bolts should be inspected before and after each tow to insure that nothing is tearing apart.
If you intend anything more than the short, low-speed (low wind resistance) tows, I'd strongly advise against it unless you spend big bucks and have a custom receiver fabricated, with more and better mounting points, by a shop that really knows what it's doing.
