Your deposit has always been fully refundable.
And still not usually lost in a reorganization bankruptcy as customer gift certificates and deposits generally remain viable at full face value. Only a liquidation bankruptcy would cancel deposits. I believe liquidation is a long way off if you are short on the stock.- hone_eagleExplorer

He needs more deposits from suc, errrrr, customers on products that will never happen.
Over 25% of the people that put reservations on the Model 3 have backed out. And more on the way. That's really bad news for Musk.
We want a refund Tesla.
$2,500 reservations, another way to keep the ball rolling. Lets pay this guy $3,500 with no delivery date. :R
wait back up, a bunch of customers want their deposit back so we need the rest of you to pony up another 2500 ?
because we already spent your deposit?
scetchy?
how can you ask a customer who already made a deposit for more?
is that even legal? not a breech of contract? - HuntindogExplorer

The $2,500 required when configuring the order is nothing new as the S & X require same. Only difference is the media has suddenly made a big deal out of the additional $2,500. This is and has been the normal course of buying a Tesla all along.
A delivery window is given same as you would get from Ford or GM if you special order today.
Everything is normal and customary... time to get over it.
And a bit off topic anyway since the consumer pick up is not even on the design board yet. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorerIt's the only way he can keep the ball rolling.

Everyone that drives a diesel brags on all the huge torque. Electric drive will take that to another level. Only limit will be tire adhesion to the road. Without traction control electric will spin all four tires fully loaded.
PS: Why does he need "crazy torque"? A lot of the big pickups actually have systems that derate the torque because the engines have crazy torque. What's the point? Seems like there is no problem generating plenty of torque.- 8_1_VanExplorer

Very easy in an electric car. Nothing special here.
Now 100 miles on a track with turns and breakng...that would be impressive.
If you are only doing light duty use, a plug in hybrid can work...and really most tradesmen just carrying tools and spares in the back, don't need heavy duty.
Of course the real manufacturers are already working on hybrids.

No lie there.....but the amount of respect is directly proportional to ones need to go run a 1/4 mile drag strip every day of the week. Most buyers of those rockets will use it to rocket from this stoplight to the next one, so they can sit at the red light longer than the common folk, and have more time for Twitting and Facebook lol.
BUT BUT, They are...... GREEN. LOL
