Testing ABS Sensors

I have discovered that a sensor may read 1200 ohms as spected at say room temperature but measured open ( infinite ) at something less than room temp.
I took all four of my sensors out and put them in my refrigerator for an hour. Three of the four measured open. Replaced them and no problems since.
  • Interesting, what is the vehicle? I know tne sensors are built into the hubs on GM vehicles ( not just FWD).
  • Some wheel speed sensors have a piece of metal exposed to the elements. Because they are magnetic, they grab all metal shavings and will rust. Once they get a lot of rust they will cause problems with your ABS.

Most sensors are easy to replace, although some are built into the bearing of FWD vehicles.
