Saw another Riv yesterday. Parked where could take a good look at it. Nice car (it ain’t really a truck) albeit ugly as a red headed step child….but the bigger takeaway is how small they actually are.

I've seen a few of the rivians too. Not sure I'm calling them as ugly as grit. There more of a mid sized pickup SUV sized rig. Not sure a 4' bed is worth having. I'd want a 6' minimum. Not sure if I'm seeing the same one(s) per say, have seen enough to say there are many here in greater Seattle area. Multiple colors. Just like Tesla, some colorsi like, some are just plain fugly....I could be seen in one of these, that Tesla pickup.....no thanks.Marty

Marty; Grit mentioned car and how small it was. Do you know if they have a ladder type frame under them? Do they really have a 4'bed? Dang!I was shocked the first time I sat in a Volt. Man that thing was small inside.

Not positive about body frame.I parked next to one, didn't get that involve with checking it out. Jeep has a four door pickup bed rig, similar in stature, rivians is a bit smaller. If power etc is with in, I'd pull an upwards of 20-24' trailer with dual 3500 axles with it. Would not want to go much larger. Too much tail, not enough dog.Four would sit very comfortable in it. Three smaller people in the back. A 7' Shaq O'Neal is not going to fit in it. If it had an ICE in it, it would sell also. Be a reasonable thing to have. It's not going to keep up with a full size 15 series rig towing hauling etc. It has a place I'm not going to use red headed anything, or my 15 month old grand daughter would be insulted, as would auburny haired mom, grandmother upset using his figure of speech insult. It's better looking that pictures make it IMHO.Marty

Nothing in the article even hints at that. One recall won't send them to the bin. Remember when Toyota recalled all of those Prius because of an accelerator issue? Or when VW got caught fudging diesel numbers? Both are still here and producing EVs by the tens of thousands.

Rivian currently sits quite solid from a financial standpoint. From the same article:

The cost of the recall is unlikely to dent Rivian’s substantial cash hoard. The company had $15.5 billion on hand as of the end of the second quarter, far more than most rival EV startups.

LOL I had a couple of recalls on my last F150. I'll admit to low energy, though I can still live independently. :R Edit- Well heck, I did have energy to wire and rivet a new lighted license plate bracket on my trailer today!

Meh. The recall is to re-torque a bolt on the front suspension. It’s done in the driveway of the owner.

We rented a truck camper in Alaska for two weeks. Just the wife, the dog (12 pounds) and me. So, yep we can live in a lot less room.

Not sure I can give up the 4WD pickup. We spend a lot of time driving back roads, thus the truck camper rental.
