I do get hassled but they know I am not day camping, they think I am setting up for over-night camping, so tell me I cant camp, despite if I am just parking like everyone else to go to the same thing everyone else is doing after they park there… I do not set up anything, just park, and sometimes had to level it. I'm gone by sunset, so there is no real issues.
It's just a hassle.
I even got a "warning" ticket last time even after I talked to the same ranger and told him my day plans…
They will have a loose definition of camping that involves over-night parking and sleeping and or multi-day staying.
You can over-night park if you leave and go tent camping on your hike, but can't over-night sleep in your vehicle. No one disagrees with this, but if you park a camper and go hiking, expect to get hassled, or a ticket.
