Was talking about the domestics not the imports. Ford was first, GM was second and Chrysler was third. Note: even if you factor in sales it still remains the same.

That's not even true.
Look at the 2012 recall article:
"By comparison, General Motors recalled nearly 1.3 million cars and trucks, while Ford recalled over 1.1 million vehicles during 2012 according to our tabulations."
Ford was #1 for the Domestics in 2011.
In 2010 it was GM again:
"Following Toyota, General Motors (GM) had the second-largest number of total vehicles recalled with 4 million, involving 21 campaigns, the News reported."
I'm just a stickler for accurate data.
