Think, from what I see, it's not a good idea.
Agree. I've been towing with GM's ubiquitous 5.3L coupled to a 3.42 axle since 2006, first with an '06 Silvy then a few years later with an '05 Avalanche, same engine, same wide ratio 4-spd transmission, same axle ratio. These days I tow with a '12 Silvy, same engine, same axle, but the newer narrow ratio 6-spd. The heaviest trailer I towed with the 4-spds was our K-Z Spree 240BH-LX which averaged 5500 lbs loaded & ready to camp with an average gross tongue weight of ~ 750 lbs. I'd have been willing to go perhaps another 500 lbs more in gross weight but not much more than that. Our current 19' couple's trailer averages ~ 4800 lbs loaded & ready to camp with an average gross tongue weight of ~ 620 lbs and with just my wife & I and dog in the truck along with 200 lbs allowance for cargo in the back the '12 Silvy is pretty well topped out on payload. I've towed enough miles over the years to know I wouldn't want to tow a trailer as heavy as the one you're proposing with this truck. JMO, but you did ask. ;)
