You seem to be trying to remain cautious, so I will add one thought. If you believe it's doable with your current truck (and i believe it is with caution) and your intention in the near future is to upgrade the truck. Go for it.
Adjust/check your brakes frequently, slow down a little, and use it for a season or two until you can upgrade your truck.
