The Dreaded 1/2 Ton Towing Question

OP asked the question, so he/she didn't know the answer, or wasn't comfortable making the decision on his/her own. Hence the difference of opinions.
If the definition of weight police, is someone who uses the numbers as an input, to make an informed decision, and adds to that decision, real world experience with same/similar setup, then Im proudly 100 percent Weight Police.
If, on the other hand, one wants to make a decision based on seeing a measurable number of half tons pulling trailers across the US, or the number of 150,s 1500's and Tundra's at a campground and decide that their configuration looks the same, and therefore, should be fine, that's their decision. I assume if one makes that decision, they wouldn't ask for input in the first place.
If you say, as part of your analysis, that 'it's only 500 lbs, you won't notice', then what about 600? What about a 1000? When do you notice? When do you care?
Me, I will continue to calculate the numbers, use that as a decision making point, and also add to that my own experience, and the experience of people I trust, to make my decisions.
