TCs are like boats; every one is a compromise in some function. Interior space is so limited in a TC.
OTOH, the space you can put AROUND you by taking a TC to boondocking spots, more than makes up for it.
And the outdoor setup outside the TC is extremely important to us. We set up a 10x10 EZ up over a 10x12 polyethylene ground mat, a couple Lifetime plastic tables, a Coleman stove and a couple lounger chairs. Outdoor shower structure, as well. We have insect screening for the EZ up but, as we travel out West, we have only had to use it once in two seasons. We travel in August and Sept so the bug season is over, even at elevations above 8000 feet. This all takes maybe a half hour to set up but it is worth it as we dont move for several days when we make camp.
Right now, our lives involve traveling on the road for 2-3 months in the summer. This involves going to new areas each year. I cant imagine searching out new boondock spots while towing a trailer. You'll end up in RV parks and Walmart parking lots way more than we like. Exploring is so much easier in a TC.
My truck is getting pretty old now. 2000 F350 diesel with 203k on the engine. If I am not in a financial position to replace the truck when it eventually goes, I might consider some kind of class B rig.
But not a trailer. Just too limiting.
