There is no doubt that it is all a compormise. When using a TC I try to set up where we will be outside much more than inside. If you are going to stay inside, why go camping? I understand that sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate, but I have had good luck setting up a 13'x13' canopy that I attach to the side of the camper and then use 2 tent stakes and straps to anchor the other two sides. A 6' folding plastic table goes under the canopy and the setup works great for us.
Amen, amen!!
People who are turned off by TCs are people who have too many kids for it or are unwilling to go outside the TC.
69 Avion, have you got any pics of how you set up and attach this poor man's roll up canopy to the rig? It would be great to trade in the weight of an EZ up for a tarp, a couple poles and ropes and a couple stakes. How do you attach it to the rig?
I have some pictures, but they aren't downloaded onto photobucket yet.
It is just a Coleman 13'x13' canopy with the frame. It comes in a cordura nylon case. My guess is that it weighs about 40#. I tie the frame to the camper in two locations.
