Permit me to add another suggestion that you take a serious look at Tiger. There are basically three models in production:
-- Siberian on a Ford 550. Longer, heavier with dry bath. You can read about a couple full timing with three (!!) dogs on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/blackhillstiger/
-- Malayan Tiger on a Ford or RAM 550. Shorter with wet bath. You can read about ours here: https://diplostrat.org
These models are true, four season campers with no generator.
-- Bengal Tiger on Chevrolet/RAM/Ford 350. This is the traditional Tiger, available with or without a generator. (I recommend without.) You can read about some friends of mine full timing in over 55 countries. (No, that is not a misprint.) http://www.travelin-tortuga.com/Travelin-Tortuga/index.html
Tigers are lighter than a truck/camper combo and have a lower center of gravity. All combine full motorhome level accommodation (on a smaller scale) with as wild a 4x4 as you want to pay for. (Tiger does not do the 4x4 upgrades - you can do it before or after construction and they have a 4x4 shop on tap.
Best wishes whatever you decide.
Edited to add: Read bka0721's post. I don't agree with all of his points, but he is actually doing exactly what you want to do.
