$8-10K for a diesel is assuming msrp for new ones, right? It would buy a lot of diesel, but on the other hand, not all of us buy new trucks when we buy. My truck was about $40K off the price of a new one at MSRP. It was 5 years old. The calculation of whether a diesel is an investment or not is a tricky calculation because it also involves how long you will keep it.
