I was NOT happy with the ride. The factory had 80psi on all 6 tires so I dropped the rears to 45 and it rode MUCH better.
Interesting you mention that. I just drove 2 2015 DRW rams over the last 2 days and I was less than impressed with the ride. Likes to wander at freeway speed and every bump and expansion joint was felt. According to the truck TPMS tires were between 72-76 psi. Drove my Chevy DRW over the same route when leaving the dealer and I didn't even know there were any bumps in the road and that is with my tires near 80psi. Time to drive the Ford DRW and see how that rides.
Wow, glad I got a 2013 then if that's the case...Your experience is an exception to the rule...The truck has a beefed up all new front and rear suspension, plus an all new much stouter frame...thus the reason the GVWR is 14,000# and the RAWR is 9750#, (AAM rates it at 11,800#).....I don't have TPMS on my 13' dually, but I run 80 psi in the front and 60 in the REARS,per tire and truck manufacturers recommendations for my truck)...(65 in the rears when towing.
I've experience nothing like you have, though, I would think one would expect a little rougher ride with a 3500 DRW truck due to the suspension and the frame...You are correct though, the Chevy does ride a little "softer", but not that much....but it also carries a lesser GVWR and RAWR, so the more beefed up front and rear end on the Ram and the higher strength frame will cause the Ram to ride a little rougher...oh, hook my 16,300# 5er to the Truck and it rides like a 1/2 ton:)....
If one wants a Cadillac ride, guess they need to stick with a Caddy, or a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton truck....The Ram with the heavier, medium duty tranny along with the medium duty Cummins diesel make it worth a little empty rough ride IF and when I hit a bump..other than that...it's my daily driver and cruises pretty good for what it is...a 1 ton Crew cab, long bed, 4X4 Dually with a 4:10 rear end, a GVWR of 14,000# and a GCWR of 37,500#....
