Yes the cargo camera is part of the upper brake light. There is a second camera beside the tailgate handle that works great for hooking up a conventional trailer. I agree that the resolution of the cargo camera isn't as good as the tailgate unit. I'm not sure if there is a way to adjust it but I don't think so.
The other thing I would like is the option to have the tailgate camera image to be on the nav screen rather than on the rear view mirror like it is on trucks equipped with the cargo camera.
