Not that as said, "you can buy 5 Jayco's for the cost of one Airstream" means much at all as it's not very factual as it takes a larger Airstream to have the same usable interior room and storage as other brand RV trailers due to RV's physical shape. However, Airstreams are very high quality structure RV's that lasts lots of years but still have the same wear, repair, and replacement costs of the same basic furnace, water heater, microwave, range/oven, fridge, A/C unit, batteries, and you name it! They don't last forever and will most likely require repairs or replacement also. Even if buying 3 Jayco's for the same total cost of 1 Airstream, this is what you'd very likely get:
All new appliances, tires, furnace, liquid tanks, cabinets, mattresses, toilet, dining table, awning, A/C unit, etc and so much more with EACH new Jayco purchased! The Jayco's will easily last 15-25 years EACH with normal maintenance. Meanwhile, you will most assuredly have have to replace or major repair to these items during the same years life of the Jayco's.
My inlaws had 3 different very expensive large Airstream International's and Soverign's (31' - 37') during their retirement years traveling various trips in the the USA and wintering in Florida before they'd passed and were constantly doing the same repairs and replacements as other RV owners were doing but at higher labor rate and appliance costs because it was an Airstream and it really ticked them off. Their last Airstream/Suburban rig was rolled over and totalled from a truck's wind buffeting and the cross winds coming north down Eagle Mtn in Tennessee and they'd gotten very badly bruised but had recovered over the summer. That was the end of their RV'ing. They were 79 and 80 years old then and it'd scared them so bad.
