The most reliable Travel Trailer

Based on your experience, which brand of travel trailer is among the most trouble free. I'm not looking for luxury, I don't want fancy counter tops nor amazingly beautiful cabinets...what I'm searching for, more than anything, is for all things to function properly for many years.

I've heard that many travel trailers are frequently needing something repaired or parts replaced. So I'm prepared to deal with some level of this...

But is there a brand that has a reputation for being one of (or the most) trouble free.

I'm just looking for brand names of 17 to 30 foot travel trailers, based on one that you've owned.

Thank you!
Eddie
  • I would bet if they had a longevity study, it would be --Airstream, Oliver, Avion, Casita, Scamp. The new all aluminum trailers like Livinlite should last a good long time.

As others have said, there is always going to be some maintenance and repair.
  • Anything made by Northwoods: Outdoors RV, Arctic Fox, Nash, etc. I haven't yet heard of any of their trailers having a weld break. My 32' AF had a heavier frame than my neighbors 35' Montana. They are one of the very few that make their own frames. You won't Lippert anywhere on them. You won't find the glitz but you'll get quality. Unfortunately you are stuck with the same a/c's, fridges, stoves, furnaces that come in all brands. You may still have problems with those.
  • There is no 'answer' to this one... I bought my Fleetwood RV TT back in 2002 and found out they were the worst manufacturer of the time..

Well, I still own that same TT to this day and it's been great.. Sure, there was some stuff to fix, deal with, but no all out failures of any system and no leaks of any kind, and just a good ol' rig for the last 15 years...

Sure, I have done all the maintenance, repairs and upkeep and such myself, and it's just not a deal where you just buy it and forget it...

You gotta maintain it and you gotta take ownership of it and you gotta deal with maintenance stuff and fix stuff along the way... Do you own a house? Pretty much the same thing..

Ain't no rig out there that is just gonna be perfect from day one and be the same way 10 years later without some work in between.

I've looked at lots of rigs since 2002 and all they have done is increase in price... And still require the same amount of maintenance and upkeep..

Guess that's why I still have my first RV I ever bought... :)

    Good luck..

  • The frame, structure, roof and running gear can be controlled by the manufacturer and some are definitely better than others. Unfortunately, appliances, heaters, water heaters and air conditioners seem to be controlled by a few companies and are in every brand. No escaping their problems.

Two- thirds of all Airstreams built since the 1930's are still on the road. Is that long enough for a unit to last you?
  • How much do you want to spend, how much time are you going to be in it.

Air Stream, Lance, Big Foot, Nash and Arctic Fox all seem to have good reviews. They also tend to be more pricey.

Casita and the other eggs type TTs get high praise also, particularly for those with smaller tow vehicles.

Floor plan last when all else is forgotten.

You trailer size is usually limited by the cargo capacity of your tow vehicle.
  • We have a 2015 Creekside 20FQ made by Outdoors RV. This is our third camping season with the trailer that has included 25 camping trips. We have had no problems.

We have done many modifications, but these were to make the trailer more comfortable or functional. We removed the dinette and added swivel rocking recliners to make it more comfortable. To make it more functional for dry camping we added solar panels, AGM batteries and inverter.

Outdoors RV has a good reputation for building a quality product. We have been happy with ours!
