Its a common complaint from alot of AF owners. Nobody really likes them. 3 years ago the factory said they were changing to a simplier stereo but I dont think they ever did.
You have to bring up the "Fade" mode to do away with the outside speakers. If I recall you run the numbers all the way up to 15 by turning the main knob clockwise. That sends sound only to the interior speakers, and shuts of the outside. It is a major PITA. Aother problem is you have to remember to do it at the start of each outing if you killed battery power to the TC at any time.
