- And here it is as we moved down the pacific coast looking for a snow free route back home. It rained every day the first week we had it. Still enjoyed some epic views along highway 101/1

It handles like a dream. We ran into some fierce winds and this thing barely felt it. - KKELLER14KExplorer II

Ok so this is how it works....It is just a clothes hanger. I drilled a small hole in the outside flap and a couple more through the hood. I ran the rod through the hood and made a loop at the end. See the internal flap? I just removed it altogether. I use the clip to keep it closed. - KKELLER14KExplorer III have a mod that I did so you can open and close the outside vent flap from the inside....and by the way....check under the hood... some have an internal flap that you have to open also. It will be on the right side up underneath the hood. I'll see if I have the pics and post them. If you leave the outside flap open it just might break off...Mine did before I looked for a better solution.

Keller, while the vent that exhales outside is nice, on my 990 I can only use it if I carry a ladder to be able to reach the vent to open it.
We just leave ours open. GeoBoy wrote:
My main concern on the AF 1140 is the stove top right next to the dinette. Grease!
Having lived in the 1140 for two weeks, I can say that the oven placement and vent are really non issues for us. We generally are steaming veggies on the top burners. Just water vapor to deal with, and the mid ship roof vent is close to where the oven hood vents, so easy to send it all up and out.
Everyone has different needs. We are quite happy with our decision to go with the AF.- FireGuardExplorer IIGood choice.
I like that AF makes the black tank bigger than the grey.
It is much easier to dispose of Grey water and 43 gal black tank will last along time.
How is the quality and fit and finish on the new AF campers?
I had an 03 1140 and really liked the room. I had a delam problem on the nose but other then that is was a good TC.

My only concern is that the difference between an 1140 and an 1150 is that in older ones, the vent hood over the stove does not vent outside through the wardrobe closet, it recycles the air inside. Not a good cooking idea.. I have not looked at new ones for some time and do not know if it is different today...but I literally traded my 1140 for an 1150 and I was happy to do so. Since I have owned both I feel it might be something you look at closely. I personally liked my 1150 way more. Less storage but the floor plan was much better IMHO. There is also a bench seat in front of the fridge and the wardrobe closet which is great for getting dressed, a really nice plus. Baths are tight depending on wet or dry...I highly suggest you compare the two in more detail before you take delivery and sign the paperwork. Not to pop a bubble but wish I had known this before....just passing it on and want you all to be informed and not have a regret. It is a big investment. Have you all been in an 1150? Find one if you haven't just to compare.
