The solution is to apply RAIN-X onto your windshield .
The original stuff that comes in the small plastic squeeze bottle .
With that you can actually drive 55 mph in a downpour and see perfectly .
The oncoming guys will have their wipers on full tilt and cannot see as well as you can .
I apply RAIN-X with the blue cotton/paper shop towels .
We were just at the Oregon coast camping and we had some heavy downpours .
I could see all of the time and I used my wipers at the lowest intermittent levels when going slow .
I don't use my washer fluid but a couple of times a year .
Rain-X makes the windshield very smooth and the water just runs off .
Saves on wiper blade wear , also .
