I certainty remember the dip stick issue.
As a teenager gas attendant working the overnight shift in a full service gas station, virtually every Dodge in town with that issue, would come in for 2 gallons of gas (about 60 cents worth,) a windshield wash, tire pressure check, and an oil check because they knew I was obligated to so. LOL
For you youngsters out there: A Full service gas station was where, when you bought gas, a person would actually come outside, in any weather, pump your gas, wash you windshield, check the tires and oil, all for free. Then they would give you things called "green stamps" that would be saved and turned in later for merchandise.
If you were a regular the attendant knew your name, and purchasing habits, whether it was "$2.00 worth," or "Fill it up." If you wanted the tires checked or not, etc.
Not saying everything was better back then, but some things were cool.
