When my trailer starts to sway, I correct and investigate. Usually I'm running too light on the tongue when that has happened. I adjust my weight and move on.
If I had an anti-sway friction bar then those small sway conditions are not felt (since the bars actually do work). I would continue along oblivious, maybe for years without knowledge of a problem. Along comes enough force one time to overpower the friction bar.. and wham! I'm in an uncontrollable sway condition.
I would support friction bars if I knew they were strong enough to stop ALL SWAY FORCES. Until I can rely 100% on an anti-sway system, I'm going to continue driving without.
