If you tow a trailer you should be aware of this, I almost lost my trailer when I had one, on the garden state pkwy. A bus was next to my trailer and decided to switch two lanes over suddenly, that action sucked my trailer so hard to the left that I started to lose it over sway, but quick thinking I did not hit the brakes but accelerated and hit the trailer brakes, after swaying over three lanes and what seemed an eternity I got the trailer back under control.
I am sure if I would have panicked and slammed on the brakes over I would have gone.

After the fact since you have a MH now, but a Hensley would have prevented that situation from even happening....the hitch DOES matter, it can prevent outside influences like you describe for exerting enough force on the trailer to overpower what the truck is doing.
