jaycocreek, it’s pretty simple. Your math isn’t correct. TCM says,
“Arctic Fox 865: dry weight, 3,236 pounds + 28 gallons fresh, 233.5 pounds + 6 gallon full hot water heater, 50 pounds + 2x 30-pound full propane tanks, 54 pounds + 2 batteries, 130 pounds + stuff, 500 pounds = 4,203.5 pounds”
In other words, the wet weight without stuff (500 lbs) is 3703.5 lbs. That leaves 1196.5 lbs to get to 4900 payload that you posted not 500. BTW, the fulltimer you posted about has a payload according to him of 6700 lbs though. Not sure why there is an 1800 lb difference unless one of you guys has your payload number wrong. The number I found was was around 5900 which would make the stuff number go all of the way to 2196.5 lbs of stuff. Assuming you aren’t carrying the tailgate, and you can gain about 50 lbs more.
Theoretically possible to reach if you carry enough weights for weight training extra batteries etc. Not very normal though.
For the fulltimer, you say ready to camp. That’s your words not his since he admitted he has weights for weight training, no freshwater, and partial grey tank. Again, he also says he has a 6700 lb payload, so even in his extreme case, he’s going to be 1000 lbs under GVWR after filling his freshwater tank.
