If I could get 3.31 gears in a new F450 I think I’d be ready to give a dually a go. For many applications a 4.30 final drive makes poor use of a transmission with a first gear ratio of 4.615:1 and a 10th gear ratio of .632:1. I think there are likely many people who would buy a F450 to tow a 16000 to 24,000 lb fiver if they could be purchased with 3.31 or 3.55 gears…. Maybe some Ram and GM dually guys would even give the F-450 a serious look if a higher geared final drive was offered?
