There are a bakers dozen F350/3500 diesel 4x4 crew cab trucks within 150 miles of me under $70k, all of them are SRW. Is that a lot compared to the 46 3/4 ton trucks meeting the same search, nope but not exactly unobtainable.
Certainly not unobtainable and your 1 in 3 odds of finding a 1 ton vs a 3/4 ton is pretty good.
I feel historically, it's been more like 1 in 10. And if buying used and not ordering a truck to spec, having 10x (or even 3x) as many trucks to choose from wen the only difference is an extra leaf or 3 in the rear suspension will net a person the same truck with far better odds at a good price and a model/features/color that they actually want.
Now Canada is the exact opposite. 9 out of 10 HD pickups are 1 tons, not 3/4 tons. At least in the western provinces. Luxury tax on 3/4 tons combined with greater gvw enforcement have pushed the market to 1 tons primarily, up there.
