Seems there were too many vehicle-deer accidents, so they tried these.
They worked fine, but for just a short time as they all ended up plugged with bugs from driving after dark. And of course, once plugged they didn't work at all.
Best advice and preventive measure is to slow down after dark, and helps to have a fellow passenger acting as second lookout for deer.
