- $650 for water pump, belt and coolant replacement after on-road failure, but reimbursed later by FCA. Still out about $300 for related misc expenses - campground where I had to leave the camper while waiting for parts, rental car while waiting for parts and fuel to and from site of breakdown (about 3 hours from home). I'm also still waiting on the water pump recall because no replacements are available yet, it will be free but will require a dealer trip.
- I had a recall on the SCR, also free but it required an overnight trip to the dealer.
The water pump failure ticked me off mightily but I do think I was pretty unlucky to have the issue and it was made worse by the timing of when it happened. Overall I'm very happy with the truck. I anticipate keeping it many years and replacing it with another diesel truck when the time comes.
Sorry, this post is partially my fault. But it's good to see that so many are having good experiences with their diesels. This message from IdaD is exactly what would happen to me (Davis luck lives). Almost everyone so far has had to have warranty work done on something emissions related. If you are halfway across the country and something breaks under warranty, you get to experience an IdaD fiasco. And if it only happens to every one in ten trucks, it'll be mine. Guaranteed.
Still no diesel envy, though.
