Not doubt that years, engines, brands, and/or miles comes into play with my experiences and data. Although the fleets that my company takes care of span all brands and we are the sole maintenance providers for many of these fleets. I will say that that there are more issues with certain brands than others, but I will not say which brand partly because I do not wish to bash any brands and partly due to the fact that this brand sells a lot of trucks therefore the amount of issues I see should be higher then the rest.
I'd have to see the data. Are you at least comparing HD trucks to HD trucks? I'd have a hard time believing diesels are more reliable than gas for the first 100k miles, regardless of use.
I've seen too many blowing white smoke or getting a piggyback ride.
