10 people reported engine problems that did or could have ruined a vacation or a trip. All were diesel, which did surprise me. Not one gas. This is mainly why we believe what we do. Water pumps, DEF tanks, oil pumps, high pressure fuel pumps, defective exhaust components, and one "motor blew up".
I'm thinking that comparing diesel reliability in fleet vehicles and RV owners is comparing apples to oranges.
That's pretty unscientific, and as the guy who reported the water pump failure I'd point out that the issue could have been a problem on any type of engine. It just happens that Cummins got a load of a defectively designed water pumps by dumb luck. Even devout Ram haters would mostly agree that Cummins generally has their $hit in a pile.
