Good write up Vern. The ED works for your need/wants of how you use your truck and that is great.
Mentioning the "need" to go 70 mph towing is not really a need for most it is a want. I work hard to play hard and an extra 30 minutes to an hour I spend on the road is an extra 30 minutes to an hour I am not enjoying my vacation. Throw in screaming kids that you love to death but swear to God will not hesitate to make sit in the bed of the truck the rest of the way if they don't stop fighting, then getting to your destination as quickly as safely possible becomes a bit more important. If I was retired without kids or was towing alone for work, then I would not care how fast I towed up a hill as long as it was not too unbearable.
Although you mentioning only able to do 55mph towing 6,500 up grades makes me wonder how in the world Ford is coming up with the 11k+ tow rating in their diesel which has very similar power ratings.
