Some reasons in my case why I like towing up 7-8% grades at 75 mph......
Keeps the trans in the “correct gear” with the converter locked and EGTs in check
Gives me more airflow through the radiator,inter cooler , trans cooler, etc.
Keeps the mechanical fan from kicking in (depending on ambient temps) -25 hp
Easier on the AC compressor (lower rpms) when on
You can keep the momentum going and not hold back cars behind you
I don’t think stopping is an issue up a big hill, so stopping distance is reduced.
Fuel mileage not important to me. Plus I like hearing all the mods I installed working.
Doing 45 mph up the same mountain with the fan screaming and stuck behind semis is no fun.
