Think need new batteries, 07 5.9

Think our 07 5.9 Dodge needs new batteries. Got 6 years out of the ones that came on our truck getting a little hard to start on cold days. Not sure if I should go back to Dodge or not think I have interstate batteries in it. All I know I will not go with walmart as they do not have good batteries.

Any way how long did your batteries last in your truck?
  • Got seven years out of my Wally World Deep Cycle. Still good when I traded coaches this last May. Just bought another for my boat for a matched pair.

Cold weather separates the good from the bad in a hurry... Got mine on trickle charge now - Once you ever run a start battery down it is never the same from then on...

Same here, but not quite as cold (30) but still seems to start ok without waiting for grid.
  • Got the same truck as the OP. Still on the original batteries. Might try a block heater to keep things warmed up a little if it is very cold.

  • March of 2006 new batteries. Equals 7 years so far and still going strong in a 2001 3/4 ton.
On cold days I give the "wait to start" light an 5-10 seconds extra to warm up the grid wire little bit extra. Added water once in 7 years. Man, I hate to add up how many years, might be due for new one.
I would like to get a new one just for looks if nothing else but no problems with old one, so why spend the money IMO
  • I think I got seven years out of the originals on my 01 5.9 but our winters are pretty mild and the truck was always garaged. Used Costco replacements but only kept the truck another three years, so don't know how long they last.
