Correct. In the aftermarket world there are bunch that don't need them. Apparently these ones don't in the case of the Trans Am. The metal heat shields don't fit over the Taylor wires. They were not designed to have them. I have to wonder how hot it gets under the hood of the truck as they are good up to 600 degrees. I now have a set of stock GM wires on there with shields.
