With solar, if you put a couple extra batteries in, you can run a decent sized inverter. I have 600w solar on mine, with 3 120Ah batteries going thru a Xantrex 1.8KW Prosine inverter.
The solar has no problem keeping up with the 110v LED lighting(when used) and full size 18cu ft fridge over a day/night cycle. I usually have enough let over to also run a self-standing ice maker that draws 400 watts.
Extra fridge and ice maker... I like that idea! What type of fridge did you use?
Literally a cheap, used 18cuft house fridge I picked up for $100 on Craigslist. Probably a bit big for a 12' trailer. I LOVE IT!! I do big group BBQ's when my crew and I go camping, averaging 10-15 RVs, and I can haul literally a couple hundred pounds of various BBQ'ables in it (Note the BIG Traeger next to it). Extremely energy efficient in the big scheme of things. When it's running it draws ~230 watts (measured on a Kill-O-Watt) with I'd say a 20% on-off duty cycle depending on ambient temp. One thing I still need to do is disconnect the frost-free defroster though. That heat element draws 400 watts when it kicks in, and since I'm only using it for a week at most at a time, frost build up is a non-issue.
(Icemaker is right next to the fridge)
Batteries, solar controller and inverter (I've since cleaned up the wiring, don't have a current pic)
Awning with LED's
